Carol Pokora, 80, of Springfield, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2021, at 1:15 p.m. at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 2, at Butler Funeral Home in Springfield. Burial followed in Camp Butler National Cemetery.

Mrs. Pokora was born July 21, 1940, in Fillmore, the daughter of Alvin and Iva (Bulka) Ivy. She married Robert L. Pokora, Sr. on Jan. 19, 1991, and he preceded her in death.

A 1958 graduate of Nokomis High School, she was very family-oriented and always offered a helping hand when she could. She enjoyed bird watching, and spending time with her family and friends. She retired from the State of Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity after 25 to 30 years of employment. Prior to that, she worked for Fiat Allis for a number of years.

She is survived by her son, Mike Pokora of Springfield; five siblings, Bill (wife Yuco) Ivy of California, Larry Ivy of Fillmore, Dinah (husband Paul) Casto of Milwaukee, WI, Linda Held of Kingston Springs, TN, and Nina Hartnett of California; and several nieces and nephews.
