Carol Ann Schmidt, 77, of Litchfield, died on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at 6:20 p.m. at Montgomery Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylor Springs.

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 10, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Fred Kraemer of Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield officiating. Burial will be held at Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield.

Ms. Schmidt was born July 31, 1944, in Carlinville, to Floyd Milton and Constance Fern (Brimberry) Large. She married Carl Edwin Schmidt on Aug. 1, 1964, at Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield, and they later divorced in 2018. He preceded her in death.

She was employed as a laborer at Echlin and Midwest Target Co. She also worked as a cook throughout the years at Skinny’s Cafe, Care Inn Convalescent Center and Donna Holloway’s Catering Service.

Ms. Schmidt was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield and Women of the Moose Chapter 581.

She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and was noted for her decorating skills.

Ms. Schmidt is survived by her children, Tim (Tammy) Schmidt of Girard, Matt (Cathy) Schmidt, Jeff Schmidt and Jon (Kate) Schmidt, all of Litchfield; two brothers, Richard (Edith) Large of Idaho Falls, ID, and Martin (Jean) Large of De Soto, MO; sister, Wanda Blevins of Litchfield; eight grandchildren, Mitchell Schmidt, Mariah Schmidt, Kayla Schmidt, Casson Schmidt, Dalton Schmidt, Bryson Schmidt, Hannah Schmidt and Wade Schmidt; two stepgrandchildren, Christopher Rawlings and Tracy (Sean) Bray; and four great-grandchildren, Jaxsyn and Owyn Wallace and Oliver and Rowan Reif.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Floyd Large; and grandson, Carter Matthew Schmidt.
