Bullets Bounce Back To Knock Off Lincolnwood

Posted

The Lincolnwood soccer team took a 2-0 halftime lead over a tough Williamsville squad on Thursday, Oct. 8, only to have the Bullets make an odd comeback to secure a 3-2 victory in both teams’ regular season finale.

The Lancers got goals from Elijah Aumann and Cade Johnson in the first half as they looked to give the Bullets their seventh loss in 22 games, but disaster would strike in the second 40 minutes.

All three Williamsville goals came of penalty kicks as the Bullets managed to overcome the early deficit and hand Lincolnwood their seventh loss, moving the Lancers’ record to 10-7-1.

Lincolnwood’s focus now shifts from ammunition to footwear as they prepare to take on the Wooden Shoes of Teutopolis on Wednesday, Oct. 13, in the Raymond Regional at Terry Todt Field. Teutopolis has a similar record to the Lancers at 11-7-2, but has lost four in a row.

The winner of that game moves on to the regional championship on Saturday, Oct. 16, where they will face either Carlinville, the top seed in the subsectional, or Pana, who beat Vandalia 6-0 on Oct. 9, to extend their season.
