James Bradley “Brad” Cassidy, 77, of Springfield, formerly of Nokomis, died on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at his home.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 11:15 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, located at 204 North Pine Street in Nokomis. Funeral services will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the church, with the Pastor Josef Muench officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery. Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mr. Cassidy was born on March 5, 1949, in Hillsboro, the son of James Leo Cassidy and Juanita Fern (Neisler) Cassidy.

He worked as a licensed practical nurse at Memorial Hospital, formerly St. Vincent’s Hospital, in Taylorville, for more than 30 years. He took pride in caring for others throughout his career.

Mr. Cassidy attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Nokomis and enjoyed spending his time doing the things he loved. He had a talent for cross-stitching, crafting and floral arranging. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and a lifelong animal lover who cared for many pets over the years, including fish, birds, cats and dogs. He especially enjoyed attending gigs to watch his son play bass, spending time with his family, attending productions at The Muni and visiting with friends at his apartment building.

He is survived by his daughter, Jackie (Mark) Garvey of Columbia, MO; son, Jason Cassidy of Springfield; grandchildren, August (fiancée, Paige) Garvey of Kansas City, MO, and Autumn (fiancé, Ryan) of Columbia, MO; honorary son, James Ryan Jr.; and several cousins, Carol (Jim) Hempen, Cathy Caulk Vincent and Karen (Ivan) Cassidy Benning, along with other extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
