Brad Apple, 68, of Keyesport, died on Friday, Feb. 10, 2023, at his home.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, Feb. 14, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Assalley Funeral Home in Greenville, 118 E. College Ave. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, Feb. 15, beginning at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Glenn Kreider officiating. Burial will follow at Duncan Cemetery in Keyesport.

Mr. Apple was born Dec. 22, 1954, in Highland, to Harold Duane and Maxine Mae (Elam) Apple. He married Kathryn Strasky on Aug. 7, 1982, in Brookfield, and they were happily married for 40 years. She survives.

He attended Carlyle High School, where he was an avid basketball player. After high school, he attended the School of Technical Careers at SIU-Carbondale. During his college years is where he met the love of his life, Kathy.

After college, Mr. Apple returned home to help his dad on the family farm, which he continued to operate throughout his life. Shortly after coming home, he became employed at Carlisle SynTec Systems and retired there after 35 years.

Outside of work, his passions included serving on the board of trustees for the Keyesport Volunteer Fire Department for many years. He was also an avid trap shooter, and in recent years discovered his love for fabricating metal art. He had a love for classic cars, including his 1966 Pontiac GTO.

The love for his grandchildren was undeniable. Countless hours were spent riding in tractors, playing around the farm and taking drives.

Mr. Apple was known for his quick wit, which he inherited from his father and grandfather.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Zack (Lindsey) Apple of Keyesport and Leah (John) Tebbe of Highland; grandchildren, Dalton Apple, Wyatt Apple and Ellie Apple, all of Keyesport, Gavin Tebbe of Oahu, HI, and Emmett Tebbe and Beckett Tebbe, both of Highland; sister, Beth (Bill) Gibson of Cumming, GA; niece, Barbara Koval of Marietta, GA; and his faithful dog, Rohan.

Mr. Apple was preceded in death by his parents; and niece, Becky Lynn Gibson.
