Bonnie L. Branum, 87, of Fillmore, died on Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2022, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, Oct. 12, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Justin Hill officiating. Burial will be held at Glendale Cemetery in Fillmore.

Mr. Branum was born Oct. 22, 1934, in Fayette County, to Leroy and Sadie Okal (Merriman) Branum. He married Gloria Maxine Alexander on June 10, 1955, in Fillmore, and she preceded him in death on Aug. 6, 2011.

He was a farmer and avid sportsman and horseman, raising Quarter horses for 50 years.

Mr. Branum was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Vandalia and past member of South Fillmore Township Board, Montgomery County Board, Okaw Saddle and King City Saddle Clubs, Witt Lions Club, Montgomery County Fair Association, Glendale Cemetery Board and Vandalia School Board.

He enjoyed meeting with friends at Coffee and Gab in Fillmore and loved spending time with his family.

Mr. Branum is survived by his daughter, Barbara (John) Cearlock of Vandalia; grandchildren, Colleen (Chris) Cole of Fillmore and Jason (Jamie) Cearlock of Ballwin, MO; and great-grandchildren, Josey, Autry and Trace Cole, and Max and Olivia Cearlock.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Dana Branum in 1968; brother, Lawrence Curtis Beesley; and sister, Betty Smith.

Memorials may be directed to Glendale Cemetery in Fillmore.
