Betty J. Meikle, 97, of Taylorville, formerly of Tovey, died on Friday, Feb. 5, 2021, at Taylorville Estates.
A private burial was held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville. Masterson Funeral Home in Kincaid assisted the family.
Mrs. Meikle was born July 11, 1923, in Pleasant Plains, to Forrest and Anna “Lenora” (Brown) Luttrell. She married John Walter Meikle, Sr. on June 28, 1952, in Taylorville, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 11, 2004.
She worked at Sangamon Paper Company for 12 years. She enjoyed spending time with family, especially with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Meikle is survived by her two sons, John (wife Marilyn) Meikle, Jr. of Vero Beach, FL, and Kevin (wife Laura) Meikle of Kincaid; three grandchildren, Angie (Eric) Gerlach of Waggoner, Danny Meikle of Taylorville and Aaron (Kristen) Meikle of Kincaid; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; and three sisters.
