Barbara Jean Stewart Atkins, 75, of Litchfield, died on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2022, at Hillsboro Area Hospital.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday, Dec. 15, at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m., at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jon Magnuson, pastor of Beacon Church, officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield. Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield is in charge of arrangements.Mrs. Stewart Atkins was born on Feb. 6, 1947, in St. Louis, MO, a daughter of William and Elsie (Milligan) Stubblefield. She married Edward Stewart were married on March 15, 1980, in St. Louis, MO, and he preceded her in death on April 15, 2007. Mrs. Stewart Atkins was employed by Wal Mart Stores, Inc. in St. Louis, MO, and Litchfield as a cashier and stock clerk. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Stewart Atkins is survived by her children, Ed (Susan) Stewart, Jr. and Jennifer (John) Atkins, both of Litchfield; brother, Kenny Stubblefield of House Springs, MO; five grandchildren, Marcus Lassiter, Matthew Lassiter, David Atkins, Elise Stewart and Andrew Stewart; and two great-grandchildren Dannielle and Weston Lassiter.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Stewart Atkins was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, William “Bry” Stubblefield; and a sister, Mary DeClue.
