Barbara L. Stillwagon, 77, of Springfield, died at 6:24 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 30, 2021, at home in the care of her loving family.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Sept. 4, from 10 to 11:45 a.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Parish, 1020 N. Milton Ave. in Springfield. A funeral mass will follow at 12 p.m. with Rev. Kevin Mann, S.J.C. officiating. Illinois COVID-19 guidance will be followed, requiring face coverings. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Butler Funeral Home is assisting the family.
She was born on Aug. 29, 1944, in Litchfield, the daughter of Walter and Edna Folkers Johnson. She married Benjamin S. Stillwagon, Jr. on April 30, 1966, in Springfield. He preceded her in death on Jan. 10, 2019.
Mrs. Stillwagon grew up and attended school in Gillespie before moving to Springfield. She worked for Ameritech for 22 years and was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Parish. She enjoyed scrapbooking and traveling with her husband. They especially liked visiting restaurants featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Tracy (Dan) Poggi of Springfield, Pam (Brett) Tackett of Rochester, and Linda (companion, Dan Anderson) Stillwagon of Springfield; nine grandchildren, Kris (wife, Amber), Chase (fiancé Brittany), Alex, Gabrielle (fiancé Chris) and Zoey Tackett, Bree and Justin Jones, Allie Poggi, and Raylee Griffin; eight great-grandchildren, Jordan, Jayden, Carter, Rylin, Josiah, Everett, Claire, and Eleanor; sister, Ruth (Bill) Summers of Laplace, LA; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, George Johnson; and sister, Marlene Johnson.
