Ava “Rennie” Matt, 78, of Sorento, died on Monday, March 6, 2023, at her home with her husband by her side.
Per her wishes, cremation rites were accorded. No services will be held. Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home in Sorento is assisting the family.
Mrs. Matt was born Nov. 8, 1944, in Los Angeles, CA, to Herbert Leland and Alice (Pickett) Dellinger. She married Robert Lee Matt on Oct. 4, 1963, in Washington Park, and he survives. They were married just short of 60 years.
She was a loving and caring person who enjoyed sewing, working in her garden and tending to her flowers. She had a great sense of humor and even liked the occasional practical joke. She was always happy to see the grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them.
Mrs. Matt met her husband at a dance social. They later married and lived in Washington Park until 1968. They then moved to Dietrich before making the final move to Sorento.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Bobby Matt of Nashville and Richard Joseph Matt of Sorento; grandchildren, Seth Matt of Carlyle, Zach Matt of Sorento and Bailey Matt of Farmington, MO; and sister, Rachel.
Mrs. Matt was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Richard Dellinger; and granddaughter, Jennifer Hamilton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Bond County Hospice, 1520 S. 4th St., Greenville, IL 62246, as the facility was very kind and caring to her.
