Thomas Edward Yancik, 74, of Butler, PA, formerly of Mt. Olive, died on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018, at 8 p.m. at VNA Inpatient Hospice Unit in Butler, PA.

A Memorial Mass will be held in the spring at St. John Paul II Catholic Parish Church in Mt. Olive.

Burial will take place at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Mt. Olive. Becker and Son Funeral Home in Mt. Olive is assisting the family.

Mr. Yancik was born Jan. 11, 1944, in Litchfield, to Joseph John and Anna Lorraine (Gilbach) Yancik. He married Phyllis Ann Tannehill on July 31, 1971, in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Litchfield, and she survives.

He attended Holy Trinity Grade School and graduated from Mt. Olive High School with the class of 1961. A private in the U.S. Army, he enlisted and began active duty in 1961 and remained in the active reserves until 1969.

Mr. Yancik began his career for Hano Business Forms in Mt. Olive, Springfield, MA, and Conyers, GA. He went on to work for Service Business Forms in Wichita, KS, advancing to vice president of manufacturing for Wise Business Forms in Alpharetta, GA, and Butler, PA.

He was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Father Knaperek Knights of Columbus #8716, Slovak Association in Mt. Olive, St. Peters Catholic Church in Butler, PA and the MidState Motorcycle Club in White City.

Mr. Yancik enjoyed woodworking and golfing and was a fan of Pittsburgh Steelers football and the Penguins hockey team.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Scott Thomas Yancik of Butler, PA, and Matthew Joseph Yancik of East Butler, PA; three brothers, Joseph (Rosemary) Yancik of McLean, VA, Charles (Shirley) Yancik of Mt. Olive and James (Dorothy) Yancik of Benton; and four sisters, Virginia (Dick) Kloss of Glen Carbon, Loretta (Ed) Enlow of Rio Rancho, NM, Judy (Joe) Ellis of Golden, CO, and Linda Erdelyi of South Bend, IN.

Mr. Yancik was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Richard Yancik; two sisters, Alice (Jack) Ballweg and MaryAnn (Bill) Harmening; and one brother-in-law, Frank Erdleyi.
