Robert D. McDonald, 82, of Fillmore died at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2019, at Montgomery Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylor Springs.

Visitation will be held from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 31, at Grace Fellowship Church in Fillmore. A celebration of life will follow at 3:30 p.m.

Mr. McDonald was born on Aug. 27, 1936, in Sparta, to William Henry and Ethel Velma (Wiley) McDonald. He graduated from Sparta High School in 1953. Mr. McDonald married Ruth A. (Taylor) on April, 9, 1955, in Chester. 

He attended Moody Bible Institute and became an ordained Baptist minister. Following ordainment Mr. McDonald established the Grace Fellowship Church. He had a great love for the Lord and enjoyed studying the Bible.

Mr. McDonald is survived by his wife; four daughters Bonnie (Bob) Nelson of Fillmore, Rhonda Kasten of Davenport, IA, Darla McDonald of Hillsboro, and Patricia (Myron) Kirk of Fillmore; 12 grandchildren Angela Nelson (Brad) Baker, Rebekah Nelson (Martin) Ruppert, Amy Nelson, Luke (Kara) Kasten, Shonda (David) Ronen, Alisha Kasten, Joshua (Tricia) Cole, Jesse (Heather) Cole, Josiah (Amanda) Kirk, Jordan (Mallory) Kirk, Curtis (Abby) Kirk, and Silas (Sophia) Kirk; and 16 great-grandchildren Sylvie Baker, Vivienne Baker, Chase Kasten, Kyla Kasten, Daxton Ronen, Deklan Ronen, Ian Cole, Conner Cole, Collin Cole, Caden Cole, Madison Kirk, Caleb Kirk, Charlotte Kirk, Everly Kirk, Eleanor Kirk, and one more on the way Landon Kirk; and two siblings Euneva Downie of Ft. Wayne, IN, and Clarence (Jan) McDonald of Houghton, MI.

He was preceded in death by an infant son; his parents; a grandson, Michael Nelson; three brothers Milburn, Merle, and Burnell McDonald; and two sisters Evelyn McDonald, and Helen Clymore.
