Mary Jean Stolte, 77, of Worden, died Saturday morning, Feb. 10, 2024, at Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis, MO.
Visitation was held Thursday, Feb. 15, at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville. Funeral services followed at noon at the funeral home with the Rev. Gary Farthing officiating. Burial will took place at Irving Cemetery.
Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville assisted the family.
Mrs. Stolte was born on Feb. 26, 1946, to the late Ross and Mary (Root) McGee in Edwardsville. Mrs. Stolte married Ray King on March 7, 1964, at Emmanuel United Church of Christ in Hamel. They were married for 23 years before divorcing. She would later marry Kenneth Otto Stolte, Sr. in Carlinville on March 18, 1989, and he would precede her in death on April 16, 2018. She would reunite with her first husband, Ray, and they would soon talk of marriage again.
Mrs. Stolte was a cook and a caregiver. She worked as a cook at the Carlinville West School for many years, and later worked as a dietary and cook at Lake Williamson Christian Center in Carlinville. She would later become the manager of a senior group home in Carlinville.
Mrs. Stolte was a member of the Memorial Christian Church and a past member of the Carlinville Elks Lodge 1412 and the Moose Lodge 1216. She focused her life on raising her children and being involved with her family. She enjoyed reading, cooking and hatching ducklings out of the incubator.
Mrs. Stolte is survived by her fiancee, Ray King of Worden; four sons, Dennis (Heather) King of Mt. Olive, James King of Charlotte, NC, Daniel (Tami) King of Litchfield and Richard (Nancy) Blevins of Staunton; three stepdaughters, Karen Rives, Susie Stinnett and Vicki Stolte, all of Carlinville; twin brothers, Gary (Kim) McGee of Caseyville and LarryMcGee of Alhambra; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Stolte was preceded in death by her husband, parents and sister-in-law, Lorna McGee.
