John W. 'Bill' Trader 69

John W. “Bill” Trader 69 of Litchfield, formerly of Hillsboro, died on May 2, 2023 at his residence.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 6, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Hough and Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial service will follow visitation at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Randy Sands officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro. Hough and Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro is assisting the family.

Mr. Trader was born Oct. 5, 1953, in Fairmont WV, to George and Frances (Jorden) Trader. he married Kathy Hopper on June 16, 1973, and she survives.

A graduate of Hillsboro High School with the class of 1971, he worked at the Coffeen Power house #2, at IGA for 12 years, City of Hillsboro Lake Patrol, an area supervisor for Casey’s General Store for 17 years and at Putnam Wright Ford.

He started Boy Scout Troop #377 in Hillsboro, and served as district commissioner and scout leader. He was a past member of the Litchfield Moose Club, and was a member of the Hillsboro Free Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Matthew (Jamie) Trader of O’Fallon, one grandson Angelo Trader, one Aunt Lucy Vandergrift of Fairmont, WV and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother George W. Trader.
