James Edward Polston, 89, of Washington, died at 9:50 a.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 27, at St. Johns Cemetery in Coffeen. Toberman-Dean Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mr. Polston was born on Feb. 16, 1934, in Zanesville Township, to Roscoe and Susan (Harris) Polston. He married Joy Wilson on April 11, 1953, and she survives in Washington. He was a graduate of Coffeen High School in 1952, and lived there before moving to Joliet. He later moved in 1971 to Washington. He worked as an analyst at Caterpillar in Morton.

Mr. Polston is survived by his two children, son James E. (Alice) Polston Jr. of Washington and daughter Joyce (Pete) Luzader of Nokomis; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Phyllis Whalen.
