Harriet Halpin, 89

Harriet Halpin, 89, of Staunton, died on Friday, March 1, at HSHS St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Hough and Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Halpin was born on Jan. 11, 1930, in Chicago, to John and Augusta (Kowsoski) Slusarek and step-father John Kilduff.

Mrs. Halpin was married to  Robert Johnson and later Ivan Halpin. She was a nurse's aide and worked at Staunton Community Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Halpin was Catholic and a former member of the Staunton VFW. She enjoyed shopping, gardening and spending time with family and friends.

Mrs. Halpin is survived by two children, Dennis (Amy) Johnson of Dekalb and Starla (Mike) Agers of Mt. Olive; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; one half-son, Gary McReaken: a son, Robert Johnson Jr; a granddaughter, Katherine Rose Johnson; a great-grandchild, Kenneth R. Hose; five brothers and three sisters.
