Harold Beaman, 83, of Nokomis and formerly of the Wonder Lake area, died Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Nokomis Rehabilitation and Health Center.
Visitation for Harold Beaman will be Friday, March 29, at Stiehl Dawson Funeral Home, located at 200 East State St. in Nokomis from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home with the Rev. Jeff VanDyke and the Rev. Randy West presiding. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in rural Nokomis.
Mr. Beaman was born Feb. 13, 1941, in Montgomery County, to the late Samuel and Nadine (Barker) Beaman. He attended Nokomis schools and went on to become an operating engineer, “Master Mechanic.” He and Judith Hilt were married July 30,1961 at Grace Methodist Church in Nokomis.
Mr. Beaman was a lifetime member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local #150 in Countryside, Illinois. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #456 and had served as Grand Master on two different occasions. He was also a member of Nokomis Rotary Club, president of the Fairview Cemetery Board and had been instrumental in bringing back the pagoda in Fred B. Johnson Park and keeping the park a vital part of Nokomis. Mr. Beaman was a very spiritual gentleman and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Nokomis. He was a classic car enthusiast and proud owner of both 1939 and 1956 Chevys and a 1952 pickup. His hobbies included hunting and fishing.
In addition to his wife, Judy, Mr. Beaman is survived by his son, Bill (Nancy) Beaman of Elgin; grandchildren, Richard Beaman and Aric Beaman, both of Elgin, and granddaughter, Cathryn of Woodbridge, VA; brothers, Robert (Martha) Beaman of Nokomis, Ben (Linda) Beaman of Ringwood; and sisters Grace (Johnny) Eskridge of Hebron and Marjorie (Dan) O’Halleron of Twin Lakes, WI.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by brothers, Larry and Roy Beaman and sisters, Mary, Hazel and Anita Beaman.
