Dave Sexton, 72, of Dade City, FL, died on Monday, Aug. 28, 2023.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 6, beginning at 10 a.m. at Hodges Family Funeral Home in Dade City, FL. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Military rites will be accorded, beginning at 1 p.m. at Florida National Cemetery.
Mr. Sexton was born Jan. 17, 1951, in Martin, KY, to the late Elkana and Louvern Osborn Sexton, where he was the ninth of fourteen children. He married Lisa McClain Sexton in 1986 in Daytona Beach, FL.
Mr. Sexton worked as an appliance repairman before becoming an HVAC technician. He worked for Pasco County as a supervisor, and later retired from the Pasco County School Board. He was drafted into the United States Army, where he worked in communications and continued to serve his country in the Army Reserves.
He enjoyed being with his family and was very proud to be an elder of First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Zephyrhills, FL.
In addition to his loving wife of 37 years, Mr. Sexton is survived by a son, Aaron (Sherry) Sexton of California; a daughter, the Rev. Cassandra (the Rev. Michael) Sexton-Riggs of Litchfield, grandson Dylan Sexton of North Carolina, three brothers, four sisters and many nieces, nephews and friends.
