Darrell Lee Holladay, 89, of Lincoln, formerly of Springfield, died on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024, at 11:50 p.m. at St. Clara’s Manor in Lincoln.
A memorial service was held on Monday, Feb. 12 at Staab Ridge Funeral Home in Springfield with Pastor Adam Quine officiating. Mr. Holladay was buried at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield with military honors.
Staab Funeral Home in Springfield assisted with arrangements.
Mr. Holladay was born on Oct. 28, 1934, in Irving, to the late Glenn and Doris (Perkins) Holladay. He married Carole Annize Flood on April 28, 1962 and she preceded him in death on Dec. 9, 2022.
Mr. Holladay’s career began at his father’s Sinclair service station in Litchfield until serving the United States Navy during the Korean conflict. Upon his return, he worked as a truck driver, then with the US Postal Service before returning to truck driving to finish his career before retiring in 2014.
Mr. Holladay loved traveling and working in the antique business with his wife in their retirement. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Lincoln, as well as a former member of Third Presbyterian Church in Springfield.
Mr. Holladay is survived by three children, Cheryl (Terry) Aper of Lincoln, Jeffrey Holladay of Springfield and Gary (Ann) Holladay of Mt. Auburn; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Sharon Meyers of Florida; sister-in-law, Nancy (Ed) Flood-Golembeck of Springfield; and two nephews, Mark (Julie) Meyers of Texas and Michael Meyers of Florida.
Mr. Holladay was preceded in death by his parents and one great-grandchild, Harper Jo Holladay.
