Services for Mr. Flowers will be held at a later date. Hough and Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro is assisting the family.

Mr. Flowers was born on Sept. 8, 1936, in Springfield, to parents Clint and Ruth (Behl) Flowers. He married Dolores Johnson in September of 1968, and the two had spent the last 50-plus years together. The couple enjoyed traveling between their properties in Mississippi and Illinois and finding new adventures along the way.

Mr. Flowers was an avid fisherman and always carried a fishing pole and bait with him wherever he went. He and his wife loved to fish together wherever they could find a place to cast a line. Mr. Flowers enjoyed hunting all his life, and growing up he raised and trained his dogs to enjoy the sport of hunting as well. He was also a gardener, having grown many vegetables and then flowers in his later years. He worked at Oak Ridge Cemetery, but had since retired.

Mr. Flowers is survived by his wife, Dolores; daughter Dawn Spinner of Mississippi and son Michael Flowers of Hillsboro; stepdaughter Debra K. (Randy) Jones of Hillsboro; grandchildren Kailyn Spinner, Nathan Spinner, Matthew Spinner and Elizabeth Flowers; and his four beloved dogs.

He was preceded in death by his parents and all eight of his siblings.
