Wilma McCammack, 98, died on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2022.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 10, at Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 11, at the church. Internment will be at Wares Grove Cemetery in Butler. Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mrs. McCammack was born on Aug. 6, 1923, to the Rev. Lon and Edith Sefton in Weldon. She married James McCammack on Oct. 12, 1940. Mrs. McCammack became a licensed practical nurse in 1964.

She worked at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur until 1966, when they bought Rest Haven Shelter Care in 1967 in Irving. They were bought out by Hawthorne Lodge Inc. in Hillsboro, which became Hillsboro Rehabilitation and Health Center. Mrs. McCammack became a licensed nursing home administrator and worked until 1984, when she had to retire due to health problems. She was a Minnie Pearl impersonator from 1992 until 2020, and performed all over Central Illinois, Arizona and Arkansas.

Mrs. McCammack was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she served as the church organist from December 1966 to 2012. She taught an adult Sunday school class for many years and then continued serving the Lord as a substitute teacher. She also served on many committees. She was a member of the Oreana Baptist Church where she was the church organist as well from 2013 to 2018, serving under her son, Ed, who was the pastor.

Mrs. McCammack was a former member of the Illinois Nursing Home Association, Spasmodic Torticollis Association and the Business and Professional Women’s Association. She served as president of the residents at the Montgomery Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. McCammack is survived by four sons, Jerry (Polly) McCammack of Nashville, AR, Dick (Donna) McCammack of Troy, Ed (Melodie) McCammack of Urbana and Dennis (Kathy) McCammack of Hillsboro; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three sisters; and one brother.
