Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at Stiehl Dawson Funeral Home  in Nokomis.  Burial will be at Bost Hill Cemetery in Irving. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 13, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Miles was born Oct. 29, 1927, as one of five children to Fred H. and Bertha Mae (Detmers) Evrley Of Ohlman.  She attended school in Ohlman and Rosemond.

She married Homer “Bill” Delahunt. They divorced.  In May 1951 she married Roy C. Miles, and they were blessed with 65 years of marriage, farming in rural Irving. There, they raised five children, all who survive: Merilyn J. Kunz of Hillsboro, Carolyn M. (Howard) Tiemann of Litchfield, Janice Miller of Irving, Jerry (Patt) Miles of Fillmore, and Joann (Kevin) Logsdon of Champaign.  She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and a multitude of great and great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Miles was a dedicated and extraordinary mother, homemaker and farm wife. For many years she also drove a school bus for the Hillsboro School District, touching lives of her many passengers. Her gracious gift of hospitality was evident as her home was open and welcoming to those who visited, so much so that it became the neighborhood gathering place on a near daily basis with numerous family and friends rotating through her doors. She was an excellent cook and housewife who always had the coffee pot on and cookies on hand. She was especially well known for her pies, homemade noodles and sugar cookies.  Outdoors she helped work the farm and was an avid gardener. She especially enjoyed mushroom hunting and fishing.

She was a member of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau and Home Extension as well as Woodside Ladies Aid.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Miles was preceded in death by her sister, Opal; two brothers, Everett and Jesse Evrley and sons-in-law, Jim Kunz, Jack Kunz and Gerald (Jerry) Miller.

Memorials are suggested to Bost Hill Cemetery or Fillmore Fire Department. Online condolences can be left at stiehldawsonfh.com.
