William “Bill” Patrick Callahan III, 69, of Butler, died on Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2025, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
A visitation to honor and remember Mr. Callahan’s life will be held at the Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro at a future date.
Mr. Callahan was born on June 26, 1955, in Woburn, MA, and spent a lifetime enriching the lives of those around him with his unwavering kindness and infectious laugh. In April of 1976, he married the love of his life, Sheila Gleichman. Their marriage was a testament to true partnership and love until her passing. Together, they raised a family that became the center of his world.
Mr. Callahan spent his career as a dedicated plumber and pipefitter, known for his meticulous work and integrity. His vocation was not just a job, but a means to provide for his family and help others, showcasing his generous and thoughtful nature. He was known to help anyone at the drop of a hat, a trait that left a meaningful and lasting imprint on all who were fortunate enough to know him.
An evening at the local tavern was not uncommon for Mr. Callahan, where he was always ready with a smile and a hearty laugh. Those who knew Mr. Callahan will forever miss the sound of his laughter over a shared beer.
He was a beloved husband, father and friend.
Mr. Callahan’s legacy of love and laughter will live on through his children, William Callahan IV, Trevor Callahan, Tyler Callahan, Mike (Katie) Callahan, Shelby (Joe) Reece and Hayley (Tim) Siverly; grandchildren, Gavin Callahan, Josey Callahan, Karrick Callahan, Riley Callahan, Thomas Callahan, Oliver Reece, August Reece, Archibald Reece and Rowyn Siverly; and brother, Dennis Callahan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sheila Callahan; father, William Patrick Callahan Jr.; mother, Nancy Hewett; stepmother, Helen Callahan; and sisters, Sharon Callahan and Marcia Callahan.
