William H. “Sam” Tucker, 73, of Nokomis, died on Friday, Feb. 26, 2021, at HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur.

Visitation will be held Monday, March 1, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Nokomis Cemetery. Guidlines set forth by the CDC will be followed, including social distancing and masks.

Mr. Tucker was born May 5, 1947, in Georgia, to Jessie and Alice (Robinson) Tucker. He married JoAnn Allen, and they later divorced. He then married Marilyn Kay Rhodes, and she survives.

He had a high school education and proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam. During his career, he worked as a coal miner, worked at GSI and was a fireman in California.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Tucker is survived by his sons, Jesse Eugene Tucker and Todd Emery Durbin; grandchildren, Nicole (husband Michael) Beaty and Mitchell Durbin; great-grandchildren, Riley Beaty, Cerenity Durbin and Nolan Beaty, all of Nokomis; and sister, Mary Jane Casey of Harvel.
