William “Bill” Daugherty, 67, of Morrisonville, died on Sunday, July 9, 2023, at his residence.
He will be cremated and a private celebration of life in his honor will be held at a later date. The family has entrusted Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home in Morrisonville with arrangements.
Mr. Daughtery was born July 13, 1955, in Taylorville, the son of Phillip and Dorothy (Scott) Daugherty. He married Joni Hunt on Nov. 8, 1980, in Taylorville, and she survives him.
Mr. Daughtery worked for Peabody Coal Mine #10 for 21 years and worked periodically as a farmhand for many years. He enjoyed spending his time on his farm, bank pole fishing, and he loved mowing. His greatest joy was from spending time with his kids and grandkids.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Daughtery is survived by his and Joni’s sons, Daniel (Charity) Daugherty of Morrisonville and Joseph (Amanda) Daugherty of Edinburg; and five grandchildren, John, Chelsea, Jason, Maggie, and Hazel.
He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Robert and Peggy (Dowdy) Hunt; and a granddaughter.
