Visitation will be Saturday, Dec. 11, at 1 p.m., at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. The funeral service will begin immediately after visitation at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Elm Lawn Memorial Park in Litchfield.

Mr. Brown was born Nov. 21, 1942, in Springfield, the son of Donald and Beulah (Wertz) Brown. He married Sandra Marie Smithpeters on Sept. 9, 1967.

He served six years in the Illinois National Guard, and then followed in the footsteps of his father and was a union boilermaker and welder with the Boilermakers Local 363 for 35 years.  After a massive heart attack and open heart surgery, he took early retirement in May of 1999.

Mr. Brown had a gift for fixing things, and was talented in all areas including woodworking, metal working, car and appliance repair, plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, masonry, drywall, painting and more. He showed his love through the work of his hands and worked long, hard hours for his beloved wife and children.

He loved Jesus, his family, Corvettes, car shows and auctions, and spending time in Branson. He enjoyed teasing his family, had a witty sense of humor, and loved to come up with nicknames for his favorite people.  He overcame many odds related to his health and was a fighter, even to the end. Mr. Brown was easygoing, patient and calm and never complained.

Mr. Brown is survived by his wife Sandra Brown of Litchfield; son Lance (wife Maria) Brown of Marion; daughters Melanie Brown of Bettendorf, IA and Melissa (husband Glen) Baum of Browning;  grandchildren Dakota Brown, Destiny Collins, Kyleigh Baum and Carson Brown; brother Ed (wife Francee) Brown of Springfield; and sister Iva (husband Larry) Becker of Mackinaw.
