Wendell L. Weatherford, 57, of Butler, died Oct. 14, 2024, at his home, surrounded by loved ones.
A celebration of life will be held at the Raymond K of C Hall on Friday, Nov. 22, from 6 to 10 p.m.
Mr. Weatherford, the son of Glenn and Lorelda (Niehaus) Weatherford, was born Nov. 22, 1966, at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield. He attended Lincolnwood High School, graduating in 1984. After meeting at the White Cottage Cafe and spending nine years getting to know each other, he married Jacquelyn Carron on Oct. 10, 2009, and they spent the next 15 years doing everything hand in hand.
Mr. Weatherford had many jobs throughout his lifetime, but he was a coal miner by heart. He found a lifelong brotherhood of friends during his time at Crown III in Farmersville, MaRyan mine in Carlinville and Deer Run mine in Hillsboro. He was the text book definition of “jack of all trades.” He could fix anything and had many inventions that never left the shop. Mr. Weatherford loved any activities that involved the outdoors and loved riding his Harley. He loved spending time with the Carron kids, teaching them the ways of the “old days.”
Mr. Weatherford is survived by his spouse, Jacquelyn (Carron) Weatherford of Butler; son, Justin Weatherford of Butler; father, Glenn Weatherford of Butler; brothers, Glenn Weatherford of Riverton and Warren (Peggy) Weatherford of Pilser, SC; and sister, Sheila (Brian) Smith of Springfield; cousin, Joyce Weatherford of Litchfield; in-laws, John Carron of Raymond, Jeremy (Jen) Carron of Harvel and Jeff (Amber) Carron of Raymond; and the Carron kids, Jaylynne, Joceylynne, Jesse, Brooklynn and Jordynne, that he adored.
He is preceded in death by mother, Lorelda (Niehaus) Weatherford; brother, Wade Weatherford; uncle, Bobby Weatherford; and most recently mother-in-law, Sandra Carron.
Memorials are suggested to wishes of the family of Jacquelyn Weatherford. Kravanya Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Anyone wishing to send an online condolence may do so at www.kravanyafuneral.com.
