It’s 175 miles from Morrisonville to Bloomfield, IN, but the trip was well worth the mileage for the Walker family as they made the trip for the Devils Holler Extreme XC race.
The second and fourth oldest of Jeremy and Amanda Walker’s nine children, Jhadyn and Jhak Walker, both picked up wins during the weekend of racing on Aug. 29-30, including a finish that put both boys on the podium.
Jhak Walker took first overall the Youth Bike division, winning the Super Mini class in the process. Walker ran six laps in 1:06:53.405, just over two minutes faster than the second place finisher, A.J. Hall of Darlington, IN.
He would also take first in Group B of the AM Adult Bike division, completing six laps of the course in 1:35:10.694 to win by 75 seconds over Hall once again.
Jhak’s older brother, Jhadyn Walker, would run in the PM Adult Bike division and finished sixth overall with a time of 1:43:44.326. Austin Lee of Bedford, IN, who won the Pro division, took first with a seven lap time of 1:36:11.522. Walker’s time was good enough for second in the A Open class.
The brothers would also run in the Pit Bike race at Devils Holler, with both winning their class, Jhadyn in the Open 16-and-over group and Jhak in the Open 15-and-under division. Not only did they win their class, but they also took first and second overall, running times of 28:43.966 and 29:18.046 respectively.
While the older Walkers were racking up wins in the bigger divisions, their younger siblings were learning the ropes in the Pee Wee Bikes class.
Jhenner Walker was seventh in the 50cc Senior division and 11th overall in Pee Wee Bikes. Jhordan Walker would be fourth in the Trail Rider division and 22nd overall in Pee Wee Bikes, while Jhorjie Walker also ran in the Trail Rider class, finishing 11th in the class and 37th overall.
