Virgil Wayne Barringer, 91, of Ramsey, died Monday, June 2, 2025, peacefully surrounded by his children at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
A celebration of life will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 14, at South Fork Church, located at 1431 E. 100 North Rd. in Nokomis. Graveside services will be held at a later date.
Mr. Barringer was born on Oct.13, 1933, on a farm in rural Montgomery County to Kenneth and Vera (Christian) Barringer. He married Josephine Herzog on April 7, 1957, at South Fork Church. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Mr. Barringer was a lifelong farmer and loved to spend time fishing at his daughter’s pond.
Mr. Barringer is survived by children, Jerry (Linda) of Nokomis, Ken (Kim) of Rosamond and Marcia of Ramsey; grandchildren, Jerry (Katie) Barringer of Normal, Charles Barringer of Nokomis, Josh (Omega) Barringer of Princeton, TX, Kenna (Alex) Henderson of Maryville, TN, Chad (Ashley) Towler of Brownstown and Travis (Jo) Towler of Plymouth, OH; great-grandchildren, Zane Henderson of Maryville, TN, Fred and Adrian Towler of Brownstown and Aubryanna Towler of Plymouth, OH.
Including his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Darrel Barringer; and sister, Betty Schniepp.
