Two Hiltoppers Earn Volleyball All-Conference Honors

Two members of the Hillsboro High School volleyball team were among the 18 selected to the 2020-21 South Central Conference all-conference volleyball teams this spring.

Junior Kaci Papin and senior Ally Devore were first and second team picks for the Toppers, who finished in a tie for third in the SCC with Roxana with a 6-3 record.

For Papin, this was her second straight year on the first team and the third time she had been selected overall, with a second team spot to her credit as a freshman as well.

Joining her on the first team were Pana junior Jillian Hamilton, Staunton sophomore Haris Legendre, Pana senior Alivia Reed, Staunton senior Taryn Russell and Roxana senior Reagan Stahlhut. Hamilton, Legendre and Reed were also first team picks last year, while Rusell was a second team selection and Stahlhut a third team pick.

Devore, the Toppers’ MVP this season, earned second team honors for the first time in her prep career. Also on the second team were Greenville senior Natalie Iberg, Vandalia senior Morgan Lidy, Roxana senior Macie Lucas, Staunton senior Gabbie Reising and Pana senior Carsen Sims. Iberg, Lucas and Reising were all second team picks last year, while Sims was a third team selection. Lucas was also a third team pick as a sophomore.

Two more repeat selections were on the third team. Southwestern senior Bri Roloff was also a third team pick in 2018, while Carlinville junior Jill Stayton was a second team selection last year.

Rounding out the third team were Staunton sophomore Kennedy Legendre, Carlinville senior Gracie Reels, Vandalia junior Lexi Wehrle and Vandalia senior Miley Worker.

Staunton, who finished 9-0 to capture their first South Central Conference title since 1999, led the conference with four selections, followed by Vandalia and Pana with three each. The Vandals were fifth in the conference at 5-4, while Pana was second at 8-1, ending a streak of five straight SCC titles for the Panthers.

Hillsboro, Roxana and Carlinville all had two honorees each, while Southwestern and Greenville had one apiece. Of the 16 players selected, 12 were seniors, four were juniors and two were sophomores.
