The College Report: Throne 12th At Prairie Star Invite

The University of Illinois-Springfield women’s cross country team was only 10 points from perfection at the Prairie Star Invitational. 

Lexi Throne, a Litchfield graduate and member of the women’s team, was the seventh, and final, UIS varsity team member to finish. She was 12th overall, touring the 5,000-meter course in 21 minutes, 27.0 seconds. 

It was hosted by UIS, who finished with 25 points. Greenville University took second with 51 points. 

Isaiah Atkins (Hillsboro) and Elijah Atkins (Hillsboro), both members of the Greenville cross country team, competed in the men’s division of the Prairie Star Invitational. Isaiah Atkins took 22nd, while Elijah Atkins took 25th. They ran respective times of 24:40.90 and 25:09.60 in the 7,000-meter race (4.35 miles). Greenville took second with 52 points. Illinois-Springfield won the men’s team title with 25 points.

Rebecca Painter (Litchfield) has a 2-2 record in goal. The Parkland College freshman, who has played in and started five games, has worked 420 minutes between the pipes. She has made 32 saves and allowed eight goals. The Cobra player also has one assist.

Madison Diamond (Litchfield), also a Parkland freshman, has played in four games. The forward has played in four games and made four shots on goal. Parkland is 3-5 overall and 1-2 in the Mid-West Athletic Conference.

Alex Bishop (Litchfield) started his senior season of golf at Purdue University-Northwest with a 23rd place finish at the Bill Johnson Fall Invite. The outing was hosted by Olivet Nazarene University and held at Elks Golf Club in St. Anne. Bishop shot a 152 for 36 holes. He opened with a low round of 72. He helped PU-Northwest take sixth with a 629. Roosevelt University won the 12-team competition with a 574. 

Lexi Lusk (Hillsboro) scored Blackburn College’s first goal of the year in their 6-2 loss to Principia College. She scored at the 50:46 mark of the contest to cut Principia’s lead to 2-1. Blackburn is 0-6 in women’s soccer. They are 0-4 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. 

Dane Huber (Hillsboro), an Illinois College golfer, placed 70th at the Midwest Region Classic. The outing was held at the Eagle Ridge Resort in Galena and hosted by Benedictine University of Illinois. Huber shot a 169 for two rounds. He carded an 82 in the second and final round. IC took fourth with a 629. Edgewood College won the outing with a 600. 

Jordan Ramey (Litchfield), a Lincoln Land Community College women’s soccer player, has started eight of the LLCC 10 games. The freshman defensive player has played in nine games and has no stats. LLCC is 1-7-2 overall.

Austin Marburger has started every soccer game for the Eureka College Red Devils this year. The defensive player has no stats. Eureka is 0-6 overall and 0-4 in the SLIAC. 

Cara Pence (Litchfield) has 29 assists through the first 12 North Central University volleyball matches. Pence, a 5-foot-10 freshman outside hitter, has played in nine matches. She also has 10 kills, seven digs, four blocks (one solo) and two service aces. North Central is 4-8 overall and 1-2 in the Upper Midwest Conference. 

Raymond Wille (Hillsboro) had two tackles for Lyon College in their 31-14 loss to Missouri Baptist University. One of his tackles was a solo. Lyon is 0-1.

Trevor Geggie (Litchfield) had seven rushing yards on four carries as his college team, Knox College, lost a 20-14 decision to Ripon College. Knox is 0-1 both overall and in the Midwest Conference.
