Sylvester N. Jarman Jr., 78

Sylvester "Sy" N. Jarman Jr., 78 of Litchfield, died on Saturday morning, Oct. 16, 2021, at Heritage Health Care in Gillespie.  

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 19, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Litchfield Family Funeral Service in Litchfield. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 20, at the funeral home beginning at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield.

Mr. Jarman was born on Dec. 5, 1942, in Hillsboro, a son of Sylvester N. Sr. and Wilma (Hicks) Jarman. He married Bonnie Weston on Feb. 6, 1960, at the Barnett Church and she preceded him in death on June 7, 2018.

During his lifetime, Mr. Jarman worked as a welder for McHenry Truck Equipment in St. Louis, MO, where he retired in 1995.  He enjoyed finishing concrete in his spare time.  A true outdoors man, he enjoyed all the hunting and fishing skills he knew.  In addition, he spent many years coaching his kid’s little league teams and teaching them his love for the outdoors.  He was a gifted musician, playing the bass guitar and singing lead vocals. 

Mr. Jarman is survived by his daughter, Valerie (companion Brian Hendricks) Jarman-Gosch of Gillespie, daughter, Vickie (Paul Jr.) Cope of Gillespie, son, David N. Jarman of Hillsboro, daughter, Leisa (Joel) Santy of North Bangor, NY; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, brother, Richard Jarman of Litchfield, sister, Teresa Hemken of Eagerville, sister, Rosemary Martin of Litchfield, sister, Janet Conner of Litchfield, sister, Jolynn (Kevin) Hemken of Walshville, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Hicks.
