Steven James Kirby, 69, died at 9:55 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 12, 2021, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
Friends and family will be received from 2 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 16, at Raymond Baptist Church. Funeral services will begin at 5 p.m. at the church with Pastor Ron Butler officiating. Hough Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mr. Kirby was born on April 19, 1952, in Chicago, the son of Byron James and Genevieve Zook Kirby. He married Phyllis Rinehart, which ended in divorce. He later married Lori Barrington, who preceded him death on May 11, 2009. Mr. Kirby was a contractor who specialized in flooring installation. He enjoyed dancing, western movies and Indian culture.
Mr. Kirby is survived by his children, Melissa Edge of Hillsboro and Steven Kirby of Smyrna, TN; seven grandchildren, Natalie Kirby, Cory Edge, Amber Edge, Brittany Longwell, Tyler Kirby, Brooklyn Kirby and Alex Morgan; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death his parents and spouse.
