‘Shop Hillsboro’ Will Rock The Block July 17

Music is the thing for this weekend’s Shop Hillsboro “Rock the Block” event, set for Saturday, July 17.

In addition to shopping opportunities all over town, this month’s event is held in conjunction with Opera House Brewing Company and Hillsboro Concert Series’ “Wood Street Music Festival” featuring live performances by The Steve Ewing Band, Frankie Says Remask, The Grand Moff Band, and Drew Shaefor beginning at 2 p.m. on Wood Street in downtown Hillsboro.

Before the concert begins at 2 p.m., look for street musicians while visiting retailers such as Hardcore Hammers, Alexandrea, Sullivan’s, Diamonds and Dogs, Nzuri Boutique, The Dressing Room, the Holiday Shop, Blackboard Mercantile, Sweet Addictions and Street Eats, and The Gold Pan Record Store.  Hiller’s Heating & Cooling is also a supporting sponsor of the event.

Those who “Shop Hillsboro” on Saturday can also enter to win $50 in Chamber Bucks.  Just shop at a participating business on July 17, email a copy or picture of your receipt to contact@hillsborochamber.net or drop it off at The Journal-News office by 5 p.m. Friday, July 23, and one lucky winner will be selected at random for $50 in Chamber Bucks.

A cooperative effort between The Journal-News, Imagine Hillsboro, and the Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce, Shop Hillsboro events are designed to highlight the incredible and unique opportunities to shop in Hillsboro.  The promotion began with a Mardi Gras event in February 2020 before the pandemic cancelled further plans, and resumed with last month’s “Summer Sidewalk Sale.”

Future Shop Hillsboro events include a Moonlight Madness event with downtown bed races in August, a pirate-themed event in September, and an adult trick-or-treat event in October.
