Shirley A. Hebenstreit, 93, of Staunton, died at 10:08 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2024, at Litchfield Health and Rehab Center.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 28, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Staunton. Funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the church, with the Rev. Thomas Hagstrom officiating. Interment will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton.Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Hebenstreit was born on June 28, 1931, in Livingston, to the late George Slifka and Ann Kerin. She married Adolf A. “Fud” Hebenstreit on June 11, 1955, in Livingston, and he preceded her in death on May 29, 2019. She worked as a bookkeeper for several local and area businesses for many years and was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Staunton. She enjoyed shopping, going to the casino and working at The Thrift Store.
She is survived by her daughter, Kelda (David) DeBarr of Litchfield; son, David (Debbie) Hebenstreit of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren, Derek (Megan) DeBarr, Anne (Preston) Hisle, Tyler Hebenstreit and Trevor Hebenstreit; and great-grandchildren, Ethan, Liam and Harrison Hisle, and Issac and Samuel DeBarr.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Hebenstreit was preceded in death by her brother, George Slifka; and sisters, Jane Meyer and Mary McNair.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association.
