Sharon L. Mueller, 78, of Papillion, NE, died on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022, at CHI Health Midlands in Papillion, NE.

Visitation will be held Friday, Oct. 7, from 8 to 10 a.m. at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland. Funeral Mass will follow, beginning at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland with Father James E. Deiters, pastor of St. Clair Catholic Church in O’Fallon, officiating. Interment will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Highland.

Mrs. Mueller was born July 3, 1944, in Highland, to Earl and Agnes (Richter) McCain. She married Richard Allen Mueller on May 2, 1964, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 17, 2012.

She was a 1962 graduate of St. Paul High School in Highland. Following her marriage, she drove a school bus for St. Paul and retired in 1975. Later she was a manager for Lory Theater in Highland until 1983, when she and her husband moved to Papillion, NE, where he worked for Union Pacific.

Mrs. Mueller had worked at American Diapers, Cracker Barrel and other businesses in Papillion. She retired in 2010.

She enjoyed going to casinos in Council Bluffs, watching Hallmark TV movies, following the St. Louis Cardinals baseball and Nebraska Corn Huskers football teams, and time spent outdoors. Her greatest joy was taking care of her husband, children and grandchildren.

Mrs. Mueller was a member of St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Papillion, NE. She was a former member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland.

She is survived by her children, Denise M. Mueller, Dawn R. (Paul) Denny, both of La Vista, NE, Daniel J. (Cindy) Mueller of Fenton, MO, Derek M. (Janell) Mueller of Berryton, KS, and Danajo A. (Adam) Poppleton of Plattsmouth, NE; grandchildren, Morgan E. Mueller, Austin P. Mueller, Matthew C. Mueller, Karianne J. Denny and Hadley R. Poppleton; and stepgrandchildren, Kelly R. (Daniel) Krueger, Julie A. (Alexander) Bloemke and Abbi L. Poppleton; and stepgreat-grandchildren, Bennett Bloemke, Kassidy Krueger and Derek Krueger.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Mueller was preceded in death by her father on March 31, 2007; mother on Jan. 10, 1999; brother, infant McCain in 1954; and sister, Janice K. McCain on Nov. 25, 2000.
