Saathoff On The Move In 2020

It’s been a busy two months for the Saathoff family as they traverse the country in search of flat track motorcycle races. Chase Saathoff, the 14-year-old son of Mike and Bobbi Saathoff, has competed in dozens of races in at least seven different states.

On May 1-2, Saathoff raced at the Pensacola Dirt Track in Pensacola, FL. Saathoff raced in the amateur division and also in a 60-lap Pro Am, where he led a few laps to start the race and gained some valuable experience.

On May 16, Saathoff raced in the Deep South Motorcycle Club event at the Georgia Karting Komplex in Carnesville, GA. Despite some brake issues, Saathoff would take the win in the Open Amateur and 450 Amateur, while coming in sixth in the Pro Am.

On May 23-24, Saathoff raced in the Spectro Oils Thunder on the Mountain 3 at Travelers Rest Speedway in Travelers Rest, SC. On Saturday,  the Hillsboro 14-year-old was second out of 40 riders in the Open Amateur class, coming in behind leader Kody Kopp. Kopp would win again on Sunday, with Saathoff close behind in third.

On June 13, Saathoff was in Hohenwald, TN for the Tennessee National Raceway’s Celebration of Speed.

On June 20, Saathoff was closer to home, racing at Terre Haute Action Race Track in Indiana. He would collect a pair of top three finishes, taking second in the 450 Amateur and third in the Open Amateur class.

On June 21, Saathoff raced at the Pekin Motorcycle Club TT race. In three races, he placed first in the 450 Amateur and the Open Amateur and second in the Pro-Am.

Saathoff would have an abbreviated run at The Great Darke County Fair in Greenville, OH, on Friday, June 26, as rain cancelled day two and three of the “Pushin’ the Cushion” event. Despite starting from the rear on a back-up bike, Saathoff finished fourth overall in his lone race in the 450 Amateur.
