Roy Joseph “Bub” Hendrickson, 84, of Litchfield, died on Thurs., Aug. 5, 2021 in his home surrounded by his family.  

 Visitation will be held from noon, until the time of service, on Sunday, Aug. 8, at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Funeral services will begin at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Gary Schwab of Litchfield Presbyterian Church officiating.  Masonic rites will be exemplified at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield. Plummer Funeral Home of Litchfield is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mr. Hendrickson was born on March 15, 1937, in Litchfield, a son of Roy Thomas and Vivian Leon (Whitworth) Hendrickson.   He married the former Carolyn Frances (Bishop) Friend on Nov. 18, 1976, in Litchfield. Mr. Hendrickson graduated from Litchfield High School with the Class of 1955.

He was a professional truck driver with Roadway and Yellow Freight Truck Lines for 37 years.  In his earlier years he worked at Litchfield Creamery Co., and as a bartender at the The Gardens. Mr. Hendrickson was a member of Union Avenue Christian Church in Litchfield, Teamsters Western Conference, Mt. Moriah Lodge #51 A.F. and A.M., Litchfield Moose Lodge #1634, “Shocker” Car Club, and Wolf Pack Car Club.  He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.  Mr. Hendrickson enjoyed taking road trips to visit family, spending time with his family, working on his family’s houses, fixing anything that needed fixed, tinkering around in his garage, and working on his truck.  He loved his Pepsi and working on crosswords.

Mr. Hendrickson is survived by his wife; children, Dennis (Rhonda) Friend of Litchfield, Michelle (John) Endres of Glendale, AZ, Susan Beth (Ryan) Giguere of Glendale, AZ, Tim (Theresa) Hendrickson of Mattoon, Andy (Julie) Hendrickson of Taylorville, Keri (Danny) Booher of Chattanooga, TN, Tracy (Doug) Marlow of Chatham and Scott (Dawn) Hendrickson; sisters, Beverly Jean Hudson of Las Vegas, NV, Barbara Jane Compton of Litchfield and (Mary) Pat Morrison of Hunstville, OH; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Gertrude and Warren Bishop; brother, Thomas L. Hendrickson; one sister in infancy, Nancy Sue Hendrickson;  and great-granddaughter, Kopelyn Beth Friend.
