Route 66 Museum To Host Sports Author

It may come as a surprise that, with all of the guidebooks written about Route 66, not one author has focused on sports - until now. With “A Sports Fan’s Guide to Route 66”, veteran sports journalist Ron Clements breaks new ground to share insider information and engaging narrative that will keep sports buffs of every variety anxious to discover what’s around every bend from Chicago to Los Angeles.

Clements will be doing a reading and book signing on Saturday, Nov. 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Litchfield Museum and Route 66 Welcome Center. The center is located at 334 Old Rte 66 N., in Litchfield.

From professional teams of every type to collegiate and high school programs, Clements covers them all with photos, anecdotes, and interviews.

Up-to-date directions and detailed maps guide the way to stadiums, car and horse racing venues, golf links, rodeo arenas, museums, iconic sports shrines, and more. Nostalgic roadside attractions, vintage eateries, and historic motels are included, too, making this a truly valuable addition to the Route 66 guidebook canon.

Clements, a United States Marine Corps veteran, graduated from East Carolina University and has written for USA Today, the Sporting News, CBS Sports, and other media outlets.
