Roselawn No Bummer For Area Riders

Posted

The Hill & Gully Riders’ Summer Bummer Enduro was anything but a bummer for several local riders at the annual event in Roselawn, IN.

All six racers who competed in the two-plus hour race on April 15 finished in the top three in their class, with three wins to their credit.

Litchfield’s Ryan Komor took first in the 14-29 C class, completing five sections of the six section race in 2:17:35.844.

Gillespie’s Jeff Kaylor took first in the Open A class, running a time of 2:43:26.6 to finish 14th overall.

The third win came from Morrisonville’s Jhak Walker, who won the Open B class, edging Kyle Walker (no relation) and another Journal-News Motorsports rider, Gillespie’s Collin Johnson. Walker ran a time of 2:29:59.07 to beat Kyle Walker by nine minutes and Johnson (who rode a 2:39:09.814) by 10 minutes.

Jhak Walker’s time was also good enough to put him in the top three overall, but wasn’t the top time in his household. Older brother Jhadyn Walker finished just ahead of Jhak in second place, clocking in at 2:28:37.176.

The older Walker also finished second in the AA class, taking the runner-up spot to standout Tanner Whipple, who ran a 2:27:37.274.

The family connection continued with the Johnson race team as Darold Johnson, Collin’s father, finished second in Senior 40+ B and 42nd overall with a time of 3:21:18.895.

Little Bummer

The day before the big race, the Hill & Gully Riders hosted a sprint enduro and hare scramble. More wins and more success came for the local riders.

Jhak Walker picked up another win, beating Collin Johnson by six minutes, 1:57:50.747 to 2:03:24.808. The pair finished third and ninth respectively, with Kyle Walker taking 11th overall and third in the 85-Open B class.

Jhadyn Walker finished sixth overall and fourth in AA, behind Tanner Whipple, Easton Morgan and Matt McDonald, running a time of 2:00:49.516.

Ryan Komor and Carlinville’s Jordan Emmons also picked up wins in the Little Bummer. Komor ran a 1:28:57.166 to win the 201-Open C class, while Emmons ran a 2:01:55.794 to win the 98-Open A division. Komor’s brother Alex also competed in 201-Open C, finishing sixth with a time of 1:44:26.570

Darold Johnson rounded out the lineup with a second place finish in the Senior 40+ B class, running a time of 2:21:12.870.

The next AMA District 17 enduro is Aug. 29, in Palestine, a sprint format race put on by the Central IL Trail Riders. The next District 17 hare scramble was Aug. 22, at Pleasure Riders Motorcycle Club in Cayauga, IN.
