Rosalie Ann Garrett, 82, of Gillespie, died at 6:42 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 17, 2021, at her residence.
A celebration of life was held on Thursday, Sept. 23, at Kravanya Funeral Home in Gillespie. Kravanya Funeral Home, Gillespie assisted the family with arrangements.
Mrs. Garrett was born on Aug. 18, 1939, in Litchfield, to Joe Valerio and Verna (May) Valerio. She married Philip D. Garrett. He preceded her in death on April 11, 2010. Mrs. Garrett graduated from SIUE after receiving her master’s degree. She retired in 1996 after having been a math and physics teacher for Southwestern School District. She was a member of the Illinois Education Association and Teachers Retirement Association.
Mrs. Garrett is survived by her children, Theresa Beebe of Litchfield and Patty Garrett of Springfield; step-daughter, Jennifer Garrett of Rogersville, AL; grandchildren, Raymond Beebe and Jessica Hammon; great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Beebe and Josie Beebe; brother-in-law, Jerry Tilley; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Joann Tilley; brother, Gerald Valerio; and nephew, Mike Tilley.
