Ronald Keith Roach, 78, of Litchfield, died on Saturday, May 30, 2020, at 7:21 a.m. at his residence surrounded by his loved ones.
Per his request, no services will be planned. Litchfield Family Funeral Service is assisting the family.
Mr. Roach was born Nov. 10, 1941, in Litchfield, to Ivan Bennett and Cecelia Grace (Hess) Roach. He married Linda L. Newhouse on April 4, 1964, in Litchfield, and she preceded him in death on Aug. 31, 2010.
He was a proud U.S. veteran, having served in the Marine Corps during the Bay of Pigs. He went on to become a self-employed carpenter by trade and specialized in being a locksmith for several years.
Mr. Roach was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather, making sure he was always involved in family activities.
He coached his sons and several other Litchfield youth in baseball and was credited with Litchfield World Series Victories, after winning three consecutive years in the late 70s and early 80s. He was also a volunteer Boy Scouts of America leader, auxiliary police officer for the Litchfield Police Department and held memberships at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Moose Lodge and the Eagles, all of Litchfield.
Mr. Roach also enjoyed going to casinos, especially the Alton Bell Casino, where his luck never ran dry.
He is survived by his children, Cheryl (Wayne) Nail, Cecelia (Steve) Walker, Cynthia Brune, Catherine (Matthew) Schmidt, all of Litchfield, Charles (Jessica) Roach of St. Peters, MO, and Chad (Lisa) Roach of Walshville; 15 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; brother, Jeffrey (Barb) Roach of Litchfield; sister, Theresa (Gary) Baker of Litchfield; brother-in-law, Harry Diamond; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Roach was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Christina Diamond; son-in-law, Dave Schwab; and grandchildren, Meghan Everett and Carter Schmidt.
