Ronald Kent Howard, Sr., 75, of Litchfield, died on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2022, at 1:36 p.m. at Hillsboro Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
Graveside services will be held Monday, Aug. 22, beginning at 11 a.m. at Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield with John Stewart officiating. The family will gather at Litchfield Family Funeral Service beginning at 10 a.m. to proceed to the cemetery.
Mr. Howard was born Oct. 26, 1946, in Litchfield, to John Edward and Bonnie (Jones) Howard. He married Marylee Ann McKinney on Dec. 26, 1964, in Litchfield, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 10, 2008.
He graduated from Litchfield High School with the class of 1964. During his career, he served as manager of the parts department for the Illinois State Police Communications Department in Springfield for 35 years. He retired in 2000.
Mr. Howard was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield. He enjoyed watching wrestling, classic cars, especially the 1957 Chevy, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan.
He is survived by his sons, Ronald Kent Howard, Jr. and Brian L. (Dianna) Howard, both of Litchfield; sister, Donna Schmelter of Litchfield; grandchildren, Brian, Levi and Victoria Howard; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Howard was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Dennis Howard, in infancy.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield.
