Robert “Bob” R.E. Jeffers, 74, of Taylorville, died on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
A visitation and time of sharing will be held Friday, May 6, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Hough and Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
Mr. Jeffers was born March 13, 1948, in Litchfield, to Claude and Martha (Tyler) Jeffers.
He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam, where he also received a purple heart. During his career, he worked at Jensen’s Home Furnishing in Taylorville in installation and delivery.
Mr. Jeffers enjoyed going to Arizona and treasure hunting.
He is survived by two sons, Russell (Mary) Jeffers of Litchfield and Robert (Lauren) Jeffers of Pocahontas; two grandchildren, Brianna Jeffers and Ethan Jeffers; and siblings, Chas and Harold Jeffers, Phyllis Jett, Ada Lane, Ruth Ann Cooper, Ruby Forrest and Maggie Scott.
Mr. Jeffers was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Patty Janssen, Marilee Jeffers, Cecelia Tyler, Andy Jeffers, John Jeffers and Claudette Jett.
