Robert F. “Bob” Durbin, 84, of Litchfield, formerly of Hillsboro, died Monday, Aug. 10, 2020, at his daughter’s home in Worden, surrounded by family.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Aug. 13, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, Aug. 14, at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Litchfield with Father Daniel L. Willenborg officiating.  Burial will be held in Holy Cross Cemetery in Litchfield. Due to CDC guidelines, social distancing rules apply and masks are required.

Mr. Durbin was born July 31, 1936, in Butler, the son of the late Richard and Louise (Dullenty) Durbin. He married Mary Ann (Trunk) Durbin on Feb. 16, 1963, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Litchfield, and she survives.

He attended school in Litchfield, and worked as a union carpenter for many years, recently receiving his 50-year pin. In 1977, he built the family home on Walshville Trail. He loved being outdoors, gardening, fishing, farming and raising livestock.  He was especially passionate about woodworking, restoring Oliver tractors and spending time with his family. 

A member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Litchfield, he was a member of the Litchfield Moose Lodge #1634 and the National Guard.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Debbra (Dan) Boner of Edwardsville, Linda Throne (fiance Mark Brinkman) of Litchfield and Lisa (Wayne) Wieseman of Worden; one brother, Richard Durbin of Walshville; three sisters, Betty (James) DeWerff of Nokomis, Therese (Dan) Saathoff of Panama and Phyllis (John) Lively of Farmersville; eight grandchildren, Lauren, Erin, Lindsey, Victoria, Kayla, Kevin, Casey and Andrew; and two great-granddaughters, Brynley and Karlie.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul Durbin, John Durbin and an infant brother.
