Richard T. Uhrig, 78


Richard Thomas "Dick" Uhrig, 78, of Divernon, formerly of Harvel, died at 6:33 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, 2023, at his home surrounded by family.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 28, at St. Raymond Catholic Church in Raymond, with burial  to follow at St. Raymond Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 27 at St. Raymond Catholic Church. Hough Funeral Home in Raymond is assisting the family.

Mr. Uhrig was born on Nov. 10, 1944, at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield, the son of John and Anna (Fireman) Uhrig. He was a lifelong grain and livestock farmer in the Harvel area. He married Carol Ann Bergschneider on Aug. 8, 1964, at St. Raymond Church, and she preceded him on March 30, 2008.

He was a member of the K of C Council 4696 and St. Raymond Church. Mr. Uhrig currently served as a commissioner of the Harvel #1 Lone Oak Drainage District, and served as former trustee for 13 years on the Raymond Community Fire District Board, as well as a former commissioner on the Harvel #2 Drainage District for a number of years. He enjoyed camping and traveling, spending time with his family and his dog Murphy, as well as golfing and target shooting.

Mr. Uhrig is survived by his children, daughters Karen (Chuck) Pickerill of Fernandina Beach, FL, and Sharon (Gary) Busch of Divernon and son, Dennis Uhrig of Springfield; grandchildren Steven (Rebecca) Kunkler, Megan (Deshae) Sorrells, Stefanie (Jeremiah Shorter) Pickerill, Craig (Sarah) Busch and Cory Busch; four great-grandchildren Charlotte and Garrett Sorrells and Elsie and Allie Busch; sister Marilyn Sue Sale of Raymond; and longtime companion Carol Lancaster of Auburn.

In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by; a sister Margaret Ann "Peggy" Jordan, brothers, Robert Eugene Uhrig and John William Uhrig and Grandson Cole Busch.

Memorials in Mr. Uhrig’s honor may be given to Montgomery County Animal Shelter, Paws or the Raymond-Harvel Fire Department. Condolences may be left at
