Richard E. “Dick” Peek, 81, of Fillmore, died on Monday, Nov. 14, 2022, at his home.

Visitation will be held Friday, Nov. 18, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Miller Funeral Home in Fillmore. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Joe Lawson officiating. Burial will be held at Glendale Cemetery in Fillmore.

Mr. Peek was born Jan. 15, 1941, in Springfield, to Charles Wesley and Marcella (Carter) Peek. He married Bessie Cole on Aug. 13, 2019, in Vandalia, and she survives.

He was a hard worker all his life, starting at the age of 14. He worked out of the Teamsters Local 916 for 28 years, and retired from the city of Springfield.

Mr. Peek was a lifelong motorcycle rider who set the standards and always led the way. He was a very avid hunter, fisherman and master trapper, and was the Illinois State Champion Trap Shooter in 1971.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Richard “Rick” (Marisue) Kueper of Riverton, Chuck (Gale) Peek of Sherman and Debi Peek of Springfield; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sister, Marcy Schneider of Jefferson, IN; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Peek was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be directed to Glendale Cemetery in Fillmore.
