Reuben Ray Smith, 74, of Raymond, died on Friday, Jan. 29, 2021, at 8:09 p.m. at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Feb. 13, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at A Community of Faith Church in Raymond. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 12 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Matthew Woodcock officiating. CDC guidelines, including masks and social distancing, will be followed. Hough Funeral Home in Raymond is assisting the family.
Mr. Smith was born Nov. 29, 1946, in Harvel, to Reuben H. and Flora M. (Smith) Smith. He married Sandra Kay Peger on Nov. 17, 1968, at Raymond Presbyterian Church, and she survives.
He served in the U.S. Army, from 1966 to 1968. During his career, he owned and operated Raymond Inn, from 1980 to 1985. He later began his driving career with Sorrells and Smith Distributors. He drove for Bekins Van Lines for 27 years and most recently for Joe Pope Trucking.
Mr. Smith enjoyed model trains and going to car and truck shows.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Todd (wife Beth) Smith of Atwater, Chad Smith of Taylorville and Nicholas Smith of Raymond; and three grandchildren, Hunter, Zachary and Kylie.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Johnnie E. Smith, Robert Smith and Darlene Pitchford.
