Three Montgomery County players were named to the 11-player MSM Conference girls basketball all-conference team, with two of the three coming from the conference champion Nokomis Redskins.

Both Kristen Stauder and Audrey Sabol were first team selections for the 6-0 MSM champion Redskins, while Lincolnwood’s Cassie Krager was a second team pick.

Sabol just missed averaging a double-double on the season as she put in 11.3 points and 9.3 rebounds per contest for Nokomis. The sophomore also led her team in blocks with 26 and was second in steals with 22.

Stauder had a stellar senior year, averaging 7.5 points and 5.3 boards per game after missing almost all of last year due to injury. In addition to being second in scoring and rebounding for Nokomis, Stauder also led the team in steals with 26.

Krager was the catalyst for an improved Lincolnwood program in their second year back from a 34-year hiatus. Krager averaged a team-best 8.8 points and 7.6 rebounds, while also leading the team in assists (29) and blocks (five).

Joining the first team were Lutheran sophomore Makenna Cox, Tri-City sophomore Jordan Closs and South County sophomore Maddie Mutch. On the second team were senior Delaney Scheidenhelm of Lutheran, freshman Sarah Finley of Tri-City, junior Callie Hughes of South County and junior Rylie Burney of South Fork. Pawnee junior Sarah Olson was also honored as an honorable mention.

MSM Boys

On the boys’ side, Nokomis is not yet a member, but two Lincolnwood players were recognized with second team spots.

Cole Sidwell, the Lancers’ top defender and senior captain from Morrisonville, was one of the two after leading the team in steals with 22 and rebounds with 55. Sidwell also averaged 6.1 points in his final year in orange and black.

The other pick was junior guard Will Jenkins, who led the team in scoring with 12.7 points per game. Jenkins shot better than 50 percent from inside the arc (52.2 percent) and made a team-best 23 threes on the year.

Joining the two Lancers on the second team were Calvary senior Brennan Crowder, Tri-City junior Joseph Nibbe and South County senior Grant Marshall.

On the first team were seniors Connor Henneman of Pawnee, Nikko Boston of Lutheran, Matt Martin of Tri-City and Lucas Schumacher of South County, along with junior Trent Markezich of Mt. Olive. Two seniors were also honorable mentions, Zach Fisher of Pawnee and Seger Brown of South County.
