Redskins Keep It Close But Fall To South County


The Nokomis High School volleyball team put up a good fight against South County on Monday, Sept. 13, before falling to the Vipers 25-19, 26-24.

Hailey Engelman contributed both defensively and in the serving game as she led the team in points (7) and digs (11). Addison Dangbar also had three service points, while Emily Cress and Presley Lamb had seven and five digs respectively.

Lamb and Engelman paced the Redskins in assists with five and two, while also contributing five kills between the two of them. Rean Ward led the Redskins in kills on Monday with four.

Bunker Hill

The following night, the Redskins traveled to Bunker Hill to face the Minutemaids. Despite entering the game with some momentum, Nokomis was unable to collect the road win and fell to Bunker Hill 25-22, 25-9.

Audrey Sabol led the team in kills (6) and service points (4), with Skylar Stewart and Hailey Engelman adding three points each. Engelman also led the team in assists, with seven. Defensively, Emily Cress had a team-best nine digs, while Addison Dangbar added eight digs.

Nokomis is now off until Tuesday, Sept. 21, when they travel to Springfield to face the Lutheran Crusaders.
